Whereas, Balanced Diet aims at maintaining balanced levels of fats, carbohydrates and proteins while meeting the calorie requirement of the body without over-doing or under-doing. Weight loss is not always the necessary effect here.

First of all, we need to understand that ‘fats’ are not our enemies. Essential fatty acids, popularly termed as the good fat, is a compulsory need for proper metabolism of the body. In a balanced diet, these good fats form an important part of the plan. Thus the regular metabolism is not distracted. Varied source of food is a key factor in balanced diet. It not only supports the system with adequate vitamins and minerals that boost immunity but also satisfy the palate emotionally.
Nutritional Compromises in a Crash Diet
The crash diet wipes out all the fats entering the system; both good and bad, leading to severe fat deficiency with time. A less-known factor is about the fat-storing carbohydrates. Think what happens when the body is deprived of calories. The blood sugar level drops. Next? It triggers the production of Insulin which is also a fat-storage promoter. That means, when the body is made to starve, indirectly, fat-storage is activated instead of fat-burning. This is one of the reasons why people following a crash diet regain weight as quickly as they lost. That is why it is essential to focus on eating the right fats instead of eating less fats.
